The Lucky Moose is a home-grown family creation by owners Dawn Anderson and her mother Judy Ostlund, who was born and raised in the Walker area. Dawn did a lot of other things in life, but couldn't shake a life-long urge to create her own establishment. That instinct surely came from her mother who has owned seven restaurants. In 2006 Dawn and mom sat down and made their favorite family recipes official, hired Spitzack builders, as well as log-home builder John Anderson, trucked in the biggest logs they could find and a stuffed moose head or two, and voila! - The Lucky Moose.
The Lucky Moose was designed to keep the bar on one side and the restaurant on the other, to accommodate both kinds of crowds, but drinking and eating of everything goes on throughout, even on our patio. The restaurant can seat up to 144, and there are two separate dining rooms to accommodate private parties of up to 80 people. We also offer a separate upstairs dining/meeting area perfect for small parties or just to get away from the crowd.
If there is an overall theme to the menu, it wasn't deliberate, but it could be called sophisticated comfort foods. The menu has evolved over the years, based on culinary tinkering by Dawn, Chef Chad and customer response.
